Doing it for my empire
I've recently started down a path of self employment, trying to build the empire from the ground up, with my own hands rather than remain plainly "comfortable" giving my time and efforts for slightly better money to build someone else's empire. Time is too precious to spend sat in someone else's office for longer than I spend my time at home.
Now, Eeebay I do enjoy
I have been selling records and other junk on ebay for the last seemingly millions of years, this is always a nice underlying income of £5er's here and there to feed meh.... i saw someone bid £6 for a chewed up piece of finger nail, you can sell anything if you put your mind to it!
But i need more. I am about to start a part time degree in Psychology with my fella, a nice interesting hobby for us both to share, and he already has his own musicky business going on, but we need and want more as we are only just covering the bills in this scenario.
Thing is, money is needed, but it's not all about the money. It's about creating something of value, an empire where we are one day free to work, doing jobs we enjoy, that don't feel like work, being able to live in a bubble of freedom from the things we do and create... for ourselves. And no empire was built in a day. So money struggles are there, but they remain secondary against the power of expanding our knowledge and grafting on alternative plots in order to secure a better future.
So the plan is to try and find some perfect jobs. For us, these are jobs that allow us to operate as self employed, being able to bob in and out as we choose so we can keep our lifestyles bendy in order to embrace other bendy jobs and tasks that we have going on.
In the bag
We recently signed up to a local merchandising company who offer £9 per hour and operate as a first come first serve job provider. We randomly get emailed about a client in our area and we ping back if we can work it. It just involves visiting various retailers and implementing a sales table or redesigning product displays with the odd request to stock count or assist staff.
In our first week we baggsy-ed 3 jobs at 8 hours each per job, going around some bargain homestores and merchandising their roller blinds and curtain poles.
Apart from experiencing some of the most disorganised warehouses I've ever seen...
...it was rather enjoyable.
Hard but fun work, time flew, and we made £400 in our first month. For just a few days work, this is pretty awesome. The best part is, once you walk away from the days job, you never have to think about it again, it's on to the next thing. It's beautiful.
We got such good feedback for our first few jobs, plus some double time pay as a reward for doing a grand ole job, that they now email me personally to ask if i can do this or that, so luckily the money is great, but even if it was minimum wage, i'd still do this stuff. Feel good factors all over the place with such employment, the freedom of choice and the ability to work any time of day we decide, then to work unmonitored, happily left alone to be getting on with our tasks.
The next step

I'm now trying to find the perfect courier job, I miss driving, i have no real need for it, but it is one of my most fave things to do, music on, road ahoy! Delivering parcels would be something i know I would enjoy, and if you find it right, the money can be good, like £15 per hour plus all the flexibility as self employed. If i can find a suitable one of these, then I think that would be enough to survive happily for a chunk of time, at least until I get to grips with uni work and figure out how much brain and focus time it takes up.

And of course in the meantime i still enjoying the odd penny and quid here and there across steemit land and other onliney portals. Recently signed up to 'Be my eye' for some potential microtasking jobs I could do when out and about, but not yet got into it, although looks pretty good! like a mini mystery shopper :)
Lots to be getting on with...
It's a pretty sweet life for me at the moment.
