It's one of those things, everything seems fine until there's smoke coming out of the engine.
We found the problem and it wasn't as bad as we feared. One of the belts was slipping until it snapped. Thankfully the car is still safe to drive, but steering will require some effort.
Meanwhile we are enjoying some home made cookies.
