If the machine of government is of such a nature that it requires you to be the agent of injustice to another, then, I say, break the law.
Henry David Thoreau.
This is my third short article of this series. In this series I try to explain how tyranny affects the normal people and how force us to face moral decisions every time, everywhere. This time I will ask your opinion about what do you think is the best way to rebel against a corrupt system and a vigilant state.
Source-This kind of things happened at a daily basis during 2017´s rebellion.
First of all, I must make a quick debrief of the situation. In Venezuela, there is a massive social control watching us, food and medicine supplies depend of the government´s will. Tv, radio and social media are under state control and drowned by censorship. And there is a lack of a true leadership.
Venezuelans live under a constant pressure to survive, there is too many government agents infiltrated in resistance groups and there is a constant social control. So an active rebellion seems almost impossible. In the last few years we try several times an active and peaceful rebellion and many people died or got imprisoned and tortured. People is affraid, protest have been prove useless and there is no way to push tyranny out with violence. So people keeps a low profile and tries to survive. Without life you can´t have freedom.
In my opinion we are almost slaves. And for many, an active rebellion seems like suicide. But there is some other ways to fight against the system. I think humor is one of them, last week two firefighter´s were captured and now face 20 years of jail for comparing Maduro with a donkey (poor donkey). These two firefighters are a kind of heroes. And the video mocking Maduro hurt.
People also protest with their feet, every Venezuelan that crosses the border says no to socialism, so in a certain way migration is another way of rebellion. Government tries to deny the massive migration but everyone here knows someone who is leaving.
And I think there is another way to fight against tyranny without being a martyr. The idea battle. A lot of people doesn´t know yet who´s the enemy and why we became what are we now. This is where I fight. I always try to teach people some economics and political facts to show them how wrong we are and why we need to change a lot in order to became better. I fight against ignorance and moral vices. I try to show people how important freedom, law, citizenship and responsibility are.
But sometimes I feel that I´m not doing enough. So I ask you, dear reader, I´m doing it right? Should I do something more? What can I do? Should we try an active rebellion one more time even thou it has been prove useless?
