So, we were supposed to be hitting the road today in our motor home. But, alas, it seems the mechanic wants to spend a bit more quality time with her 😝
We took her in for an out of province safety inspection almost 3 weeks ago now. The inspection should take 3 hours!! We knew it would take a bit longer because she needed a few things but 3 weeks?? We've heard all the excuses. Low on staff, migraine, hernia, bad back, suppliers letting them down. The list gets longer each time we call.
Anyways, it's seeming a little more positive now. The finishing touches are a new windshield, new tyres and a new stamp on the propane tank. Once those things are done, we should be able to legally drive her on the road.
We've half packed up our apartment and we're hoping the landlords are OK with us staying a few more days. If not, we'll be moving into the RV in the mechanics parking lot. That might get them moving. Let's hope it doesn't come to that though because we still need to get the toilet, shower, fridge, lights, oven, everything hooked up.
I'm trying to stay positive about the whole thing but I'm really itching to get on the road. Plus Ben's brother is visiting from Australia and this delay has eaten 3 weeks out of his holiday. Poor thing has been stuck at a closed ski resort with nothing to look at but black snow. At least the emerging marmots are cute to watch.
But instead of dwelling on the negatives, we've put together a somewhat smaller version of our “must sees" while we're hightailing it around the US.
Doable in 3 weeks? Who knows but we'll give it a red hot go!
