The art of Blacksmithing.
Continuing with the construction of my house, today I come to show you the following blacksmith project, this time it is a window - rectangular fence for a basement, this will provide light and ventilation that are the main problems to be solved in a basement; Natural light brings a natural touch to the structure and ventilation with fresh air because it is the main problems in basements, humidity.
Initially parturition of the dimensions of the opening, this measures 1.35 m long by 0.42 m high; and I begin to design it in AutoCAD, to have the precise dimensions at the time of manufacturing it.
Here the result of the design is a fence because it provides security to the opening, and a window can be opened to be able to extract any object or material that you want to remove from the basement, this in particular is a fence that will contain a sliding glass, two sides, to allow insulation and ventilation as needed.
As you can see the fence opens like a window up; and this being closed can provide fresh air with the sliding glass.
First cut the frame of the fence, this by circumstance was a beam 3 inches and 5 mm thick, cut longitudinally 1.5 cm from one of the sides, to avoid bending the frame was placed opposite the side of the frame, leaving this shape.
I began to cut the outer frame then the divisions as shown, thus remaining.
Then I began to cut out what the "cross" would form in the inner sections; I cut them 24 cm and then double them as you can see, once folded they all started to perform the opposite of the curve as shown and it is this way.
It joins two parts by welding in the center and then on the sides, then each one was made a channel so that two equal pieces fit so that it forms 90 degrees between them and form the “cross”.
Once the five were done, they were welded into the inner frame, thus remaining.
Then they proceeded to make the respective circles four of them equal and two smaller. And it is armed with the frame of the fence.
Finally, the hinges and stops are placed, and some ears for the padlock.
The tools that were used were the following.
- Welder, electrons and mask to probe.
- safety implements, gloves, lenses and others that you deserve.
- Hammer, punch, press, pliers.
- Drill, emery and polisher.
