Increasing community influence on the contests

So basically my goal is to allow for the community to have more influence on who are winning the contests. You can read that here. The overall consensus was basically that it would be quite difficult to do this in a fair way. So I will be doing some more thinking and research as to what would be a good way to go about this.

User Hive account@codingdefined suggested to let the community decide from a small selection. I like this idea and to start I will implement a small spin off of this idea on current contests. Starting with my next selection I will be awarding 1.0 additional SBD to the favourite photo from the selection. Everybody can leave a comment to share their favourite photo among the selection. I will also be awarding genuine comments with upvotes so everybody benefits :D

Mobile photography contest

Competition is getting fierce as more and more people are joining the contest. It fills me with joy to see this, but I also understand that it is becoming quite difficult to win when you do not have much photography experience and or equipment. User Hive account@gustin suggested a mobile only photography contest, this is a great idea as almost everybody has a smartphone.

However, I am having some difficulties with how I would implement this. I really like the current format where there is 1 contest per day, as this makes it simple for everyone to participate and for me to go over all the submissions. Maybe another format would be more suitable? Guest judges? Please think with me on this.

My second issue is that just mobile photography is super broad and judging that would basically be impossible. As comparing photos with each other would be quite difficult. Maybe themes would eliminate this problem. Selfie theme!

If I were to introduce this category the main goal would be to cater to people with less photography experience and or equipment. So things like rewarding 20 people with 0.5 SBD instead of 10 people with 1.0 SBD are also possible.

Weekly hall of fame

There are some really good photographers out there which are either winning the same category every week or are winning in multiple categories per week. I was thinking to do a weekly summary with some nice 'titles' earning some extra rewards. For example: winning the most contests, winning back to back, best new user(lowest rank) etc. Would love to get some ideas for this also.
