...I get Cat Fever.
I have spent an entire week frozen, unable to do anything except stare wide-eyed at online classifieds. I've also been trawling the RSPCA websites, the local animal shelters, everything, just to stare at cats and kittens and lament the fact I haven't had one for ten years.
Ten years ago, my beloved Squishee -- a strict indoor cat -- was forced to be an outdoor cat during events out of my control... and the inevitable happened.
I had known my Squishee since he was literally a fresh baby. I was at my friend's house when her cat gave birth, I helped look after the kittens, I visited them almost daily because I was absolutely enamoured and I wanted to take one of them, and then I did!
From tiny runt of the litter constantly squished by his littermates -- hence why I named him 'Squishee' -- he became a giant beast:
And even though he was a giant, majestic creature... he still managed to jam himself into his favourite spot:
And even though he was a giant, majestic creature... that didn't stop him from reverting to vicious beast and succumbing to his inherent predatory desires:
Ten long years later and all of a sudden I've gone cat crazy.
I miss the purrs, the comfort, the love, the fluffiness... the rampant patter of tiny feet in the middle of the night as the creature suddenly goes crazy and zooms around the house like a possessed squirrel.
I've got brand new cat food sitting in the pantry. I've got a litter house set up in the bathroom. I'm about to order a new cat tree. A giant 2-metre one because I'm terrible and need to spoil my beasts. And within the next couple of weeks there will be a new furry family member in this house.
And you know what that means?
A Steem blog dedicated to fiction, gaming, AND CAT PHOTOS!
I am ready to love and welcome a furball into my family once more, and may anyone who reads this and future kitty posts be a part of his or her virtual family too.
