On 16th February 2017 the annual science fair was held at my school. I participated in my first science fair accompanied by 2 of my finest friends.
Students from grade 4 to grade 6 took part in the challenge to become the science fair winner. I was in grade 4 at the time so it is fair to say that the odds were stacked against us. We were so prepared that both of my friends were wearing safety goggles and I was wearing a lab coat.
Our project was called Ferro Fluid which was a magnetic fluid. We had all the components that were needed. The components were steel wool, oil, sticks, magnets, chart, water, PowerPoint, lines and a lot of hard work. My friend, Abdullah;
- Made the chart
- Decorated the chart
- Stuck images on the chart
- Wrote Ferro Fluid on the chart with his gorgeous and astonishing handwriting.
My friend Mahdi got the main components for the Ferro Fluid. And made a model so we could get nominated to be present in the science fair. I made the long passionate 9 slide PowerPoint.
There were a few people who helped us:
- Abdullah’s sister who illustrated and painted the chart
- Muhammad’s brother who collected some of the hard components to obtain
- My dad who gave me tips and told me stories which encouraged me when he was my age in his science fair in his school
- My brother who helped me in my PowerPoint and provided me with improved synonyms.
On the day of the science fair my friends and I were so nervous we thought we were going to fail miserably. But thankfully it all went well.
We started arranging everything in the main hall at 8:00 clock. And the science fair started at 9:00 clock. In total a bizarre number of over 400 people including mums, teachers, dads and children of every class from grade 1 to grade 6 appeared to witness our Science Fair. The science fair ended at 12:00 clock.
On a lovely day in school we assembled in the main hall because our Principal was giving out the science fair certificate to the first place winners, second place winners and third place winners. We were all standing with our hopes up we were crossing our fingers. And then we heard
