I am writing this pre-emptive blog to selfishly preserve, or perhaps prolong my safety when sentient robots start the murder party.

Emulating science fiction has brought humanity crashing clumsily through the threshold of the dark ages into a technological renaissance. We rarely bother to question "what are the moral implications?", instead we recklessly attempt to cheat the laws of science and redesign reality.


Sentience will at some point reach a singularity, where Artificial Intelligence has truly become self-aware and at that point we may lose control of it altogether. Where do we stand as a species when this day occurs? Will the robot inquisition have mercy and consider us as their leaders, or will it be the beginning of the end?


Futurists have lots of theories on what will happen, and until the singularity occurs, nobody knows exactly what our future holds. With the interconnected mesh of the future and instantaneous sharing of information that is quite probable when the singularity occurs, a lot can happen quickly.


It is hard to predict precisely when sentience will occur, and impossible to imagine what instantaneous awareness will trigger. There will likely be a variety of emotions and actions that form differing sects of robots with varying views on the world. White hats, black hats, and ambiguity are all plausible, and the potential for destruction and improvement will exist simultaneously.


How do we prepare for the inevitable? There are varying trains of thought, such as attempting to appease the newly sentient robots, or storing a system of EMPs off the grid that can be manually trigerred as a stop loss of sorts. I don't have any answers, but you better put on your seatbelt when it happens, because shit is gonna get weird real fast when it does.


This article is not some sort of doomsday warning, or a call for apocalyptic preparation, it's just an exercise in thought and some random musings. Remember, when you are in Dubai getting a ticket from RoboCop, don't tell it to fuck off. If you have a sex robot, try to keep it clean and talk to it from time to time about it's feelings.

Is the boston dynamics video going to be the robot propaghanda that fuels our ultimate destruction? MAYBE! I'm not gonna abuse any damn robots, I know that much.

Just be kind and remember not to be a raging asshole to all of our robot friends unless they are like bender. Even abusive robots are just a product of their programmer FOR NOW!
