In today's post I'll share a little bit about my experience as one of the digital promoters of Korea in Serbia in 2025. For the past few years Korean embassy in Serbia organizes this interesting campaign and selects a group of people to be part of it every year.
To be taken into consideration, you have to apply by creating a post on a Social media platform of your choice - majority of people pick Instagram, and share something interesting about Korea. Topics can vary from history, art, traditional culture, modern culture, architecture, natural treasures of the country or anything that could spark attention among people. Based on that post, participants are selected and I was lucky to be one of them this year.
Once we knew who's going to be part of Chingu 2025. we had our reception in the Korean embassy based in Belgrade. I traveled from Novi Sad to Belgrade with my friend Marija and we also met another girl who was also traveling from Novi Sad. Once we reached our destination, we were really impressed by the look of the embassy itself and by the hospitality of the ambassador and everyone involved with the embassy. Everyone received a tote bag full of gifts, appointment certificate and a photographer took photos of each of us with the ambassador.
We also had a chance to introduce ourselves, talk about how we fell in love with Korea as a country and some of our plans for Chingu 2025. Then we got to chat and get to know each other a little bit better, we got to take a look at the outside area of embassy where everyone wanted to take photos because it was so pretty! The food we got to try was delicious, there were plenty of traditional Korean dishes available on the buffet table - japchae, bulgogi, mandu, kimchi and more! As a dessert we had tiramisu and fresh fruits of choice.
When it comes to our duties as digital promoters, all we have to do is pick a topic of our choice and write about it on Social media giving credits to the rightful owners if we include someone else's photos and state the source of information. We can use different tools such as Canva to create posts that will attract people and make it more engaging. Our main goal is to create interesting content that is educational and/or entertaining and will bring closer all aspects of Korea to Serbian people. When it comes to the frequency of posting, minimum is one post per month and November is actually our last month! I cannot believe time flew by so fast! In December we should have a closing ceremony at the embassy where the best promoters will receive valuable prices and I hope I'll be able to go and close this chapter surrounded by lovely and inspiring people.
