If you are ever kiting alone, and don't have anyone to land your kite for you, you can always launch and land the kite from a kite anchor.
First you will need to lay out your lines and set up your kite as you normally would. Then cook your chicken Loop to the anchor and walk the kite out to the edge of the wind window. Make sure that as you are walking the kite to the end of the lines, that you are on the side of caution, and have the kite too far up wind of the anchor. This way when you are judging the angle from the anchor, if you are too far up wind you won't be powering up the kite.
As the lines tension to the anchor begin to judge the position and watch the canopy of the kite. The canopy will fill with wind once you are in the correct position. Ease up your grip on the kite and survey whether it will remain stable on the anchor. Before you fully let go of the kite make sure there are no twists in any of the lines that may cause the kite to fly up off the anchor.
If there is any problem with the lines being crossed and the kite does take flight while attached to the anchor, this presents a very dangerous situation.
The power of the kite can potentially pull the anchor up and send it flying down wind. That is why I recommend setting up a kite anchor in a position where no one is downwind, and where there are no serious hazards downwind as well.
So, once you have determined the lines are not crossed and the kite is stable in its side. You can let go. A modern well designed kiteboarding kite will remain stable on an anchor as long as the conditions are consistent. (Not gusty or extremely light wind with long lulls) let go of the kite and walk along the length of your lines toward the bar.
Once you arrive at the bar you first will attach your leash to the flagging line. Next you will grab ahold of the chicken Loop only and pull the chicken Loop away from the kite relieving the tension from the anchor. Finally, unhook the chicken Loop and hook it into your harness.
Take off as you normally would with your kite launch.
