Do you know what I like about winter?
It keeps all of the rude, useless people inside at night.
I understand wanting to enjoy the nice summer weather by sitting outside in the evening. However, when you stay outside a long way into the night in the middle of a residential area with lots of families and small kids, where you get louder and louder, making you hearable even through earplugs, I'll think you're a waste of a human being and I will hate you for all eternity. I mean, there are places you can go if you want to stay up late, get drunk and shout at the world. It's called downtown.
I've been 'lucky' enough to have been surrounded by plenty of these kind of people in my lifetime. A crazy girl living above me, who ran through the halls, screaming her lungs out in the middle of the night. A blind guy below me who always had friends over in the middle of the night on weekdays, shouting and laughing. If it weren't friends, it was his loud-in-the-sack girlfriend in the room right below me.
People like these have made my life a living hell in the past. They made sure I didn't get any sleep during the night, basically making me feel frustrated, stressed, powerless and miserable in my own home. They are the reason for me buying a house at such a young age. They are why I vowed to myself never to live inside an appartment building ever again. And they are the reason why I now have zero tolerance for noise.
So when my crap neighbourhood starts showing its true colors again, you'll understand I get a little bit mad and stressed. I know on summer nights, I need to wear my earplugs. I know I'm a light sleeper, so I accept this. I can't blame people for wanting to sit outside. Once I start hearing them through my earplugs though, I know the fault is on their end. I mean, they even turn up the volume of their music more and more, the deeper into the night we get. They are horrible human beings with no regard whatsoever for the world around them. Sadly, my neighbourhood seems to attract them.
So I say: time for rain to wash them all away! Or atleast send them scurrying back inside.
In other news: I had some trouble with Steemit last night. Missing upvotes, missing transactions and a post that got posted, but then mysteriously disappeared. I'm no expert, but I don't feel that's an interface issue. Is it an unstable witness or something? Missing packages? How can a post get posted, but later on disappear? I mean, I actually managed to open it, copy the link and promote it in a few channels, before I went back and found it missing.
You hear about these things sometimes, so it's not on my end either. I really wonder where the problem lies. It's waking up the troubleshooter inside me to start trouble shooting, but I wouldn't even know who to turn to, so all I can do is write about it here.
Anyway, often I copy my text before posting. Obviously, the one time it was necessary, I forgot.
In other, other news: I forgot what my other news was! I'm so sorry for the whiney post, but it's better to let things out, right? Maybe someone can relate...
I wish you all a wonderful last day of the weekend!
(And if you live in the Netherlands, I'm sorry, but I hope it rains tonight! My ears hurt from the plugs.)
