The end is near!
Starting tonight, the wind will become a little less strong and after tomorrow, it shouldn't be too much of a bother anymore. Cold will still be here, but less extreme. With less heavy winds, we'll atleast be able to keep inside a bit warmer. So I think by sunday, we'll be regularly cold again, instead of this living hell of extreme coldness.
Yesterday, after writing my post, I watched more Netflix from the edge of the couch, as close to the woodstove as I could get. At the beginning of the afternoon, I went out to get more wood and ran into my boyfriend's dad. He told me he had to go soon and I was free to spend the afternoon in his house, keeping his woodstove going.
Seeing as his house is much warmer than our cabin, I decided to do just that! I grabbed my new book and headed over there. So for the entire afternoon, I kept the woodstove going in his house while enjoying Age of Myth by Michael J. Sullivan and enjoying the warmth.
Once my boyfriend returned home from work, I joined him in our cabin again and he build a big fire for us in our woodstove. I spend most of my time wearing my coat inside, but he did manage to warm the place up more than I could.
This morning, I stayed in bed for quite a while after I was already awake. My bed was so nice and warm and outside of bed felt so cold. I just waited for my boyfriend to get up and get a fire started in the woodstove.
That fire is now burning and I've been reading my book again, sitting close to the fire and wearing gloves. I figured I shouldn't forget to do some steeming, so I grabbed my netbook to start writing this. It's still cold inside, but the woodstove is trying its best.
This afternoon, we'll go to the city, because my boyfriend wants to go to the barber. This evening, we'll have dinner at his sister's place, which I'm looking forward to. My boyfriend has a nice family and it's actually fun to see them from time to time (coming from an anti social, shy girl, that's pretty positive). Besides that, I'm sure their house is warmer than ours.
As you can imagine, I am quite ready for this winter to be over and done with. I'm sure many share the same sentiment.
Now, about the book! Michael J. Sullivan is my new favorite author, ever since I read his Ryria Chronicles and Revelations series. He has pushed Terry Goodkind off of that number one spot, though I think the spot was due for a new number one either way. Terry Goodkind lets some of his believes shine through a little too much in his books, or atleast a little too often. He did give me a lot of joy reading The Sword of Truth series though. I'm happy I got to go on that journey.
Age of Myth is Michael J. Sullivan's first book of a new series. I've been wanting to start it for a while now, but I haven't read any book for quite some time. The time wasn't right yet, but a little while ago, my boyfriend was ordering his father a book and asked me if there was anything I needed. Yes please! Atleast I'd have it here for when I was ready to dive back in.
Yesterday was the perfect day to start, when I was spending the day at my boyfriend's dad's house. The book captured my attention well enough, so I had no trouble whatsoever to spend the entire afternoon reading. I'm now on page 101 with no doubt in my mind that I'll easily finish the book and will want the rest of the series aswell. The time has come for a new fantasy series!
I might dedicate a seperate post to these books somewhere in the future. Gotta read more first though.
Anyway, that's it for now. The end of our current cold spell is near, so I'll be a little more positive again soon. Hopefully I'll be able to do some gaming next week aswell and share that with you.
Oh by the way, cooking wasn't much fun in this cold either, especially no experiments, so I have no cooking posts coming up yet. I'll have my moments of cooking/baking again later, no worries. Just not sure when yet. I won't force it, because it has to stay a fun activity.
Hope you'll all have a nice weekend!
