Today I am going to describe one of my best professional projects, which makes me proud to be an "Architect". This was a Government initiated project announced by "Bangladesh Press Institute".
The entirety of this project including design submission and construction lasted 15 days. The project was aptly named "Martyr Journalist Memorial". Led by Head Architect M. Bakiuzzaman & I was posted as the junior architect. Opening ceremony of the project was on the 14th December, 2016; Chief guest was Minister of Information Hasanul Haq Inu.
This project was dedicated to the 14 journalists who were killed or disappeared on 14th December ,1971; honoring their sacrifice for the liberation war of Bangladesh. They were-
Concept of this project was very simple but meaningful. Bangladesh is a country which contains 70% (approx) of green space so the grass area of the project represented that green space of Bangladesh. Basically these journalists were born in this beautiful country and they gave their life for this country. Blood drops represented their sacrifice for country on 14th December, 1971 during Liberation War. The black frame represented the "grief" for those martyr journalists.
So the concept is, "we try to capture these martyr journalists memories and their contributions in one black frame with so much grief and sorrow by remembering their sacrifice for green Bangladesh."
Size of the project area was 176 sft (Square Feet) with the height of 8' and width of 22'. Cost of the total project was 5 lacks (5,00,000) including design consultancy and construction. This is a indoor project or can be describe as interior design project which is created by concept and meaningful thought.
“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”
―Winston S. Churchill
Though it is a small indoor project but this project gave me so much respect and appreciation from people. I really feel proud of being a part as a junior architect of this project. People praise me so much after doing this project successfully because only a few architect can get chance of doing this kind of iconic memorial project. So, i am a lucky girl.... I have finished this project successfully and this project is really memorable and valuable project for me, for my entire career.
My ethics is , people will remember me by my work not by my face.Hopefully in future i will get chance to do this kind of projects...... Finger crossed...
