Are you familiar with the tv show "The Magicians" on Syfy? I was bored a couple of days ago and started with the first episode confused by the high rating of the show and my low expectation since it was a show about magic. And I can say, that show is NOT what I expected... I binge-watched my way through it and I am currently waiting impatiently for the next episode: Season 4, Episode 3...
For a bit of background: The tv show is based on the Magicians books by Lev Grossman. It seems just a standard more mature version of Harry Potter where young good-looking people go to magic university and try to save the world in the meantime.
Now, where does it become interesting? It's the darkness of everything combined with the sexual awareness of the show. Sure, sometimes the choices weren't that mature (do you really need to have a forest of dicks?), but overall I adore their progressiveness by covering polyamory, bisexuality, etc.
But maybe, if the characters weren't so interesting, I would have stopped watching by now. And one character, in particular, caught my attention early on: Eliot Waugh (Played by Hale Appleman). He is charismatic, sophisticated, handsome, flirty and a true bitch at times. The weirdest thing is though, he is very obviously gay in the show and I still managed to develop a serious crush on him... I will see my therapist about this later... It's probably just his hair.
Anyway... It made me think about having crushed on tv characters. It doesn't happen to me often and I certainly don't really have the age for it anymore. The crushes that I remember most are Joey Russo in Blossom (Joey Lawrence) and Dylan McKay in Beverly Hills 90210 (Luke Perry).
