I'm not sure to be honest, because, generally speaking, I'm not a proponent of protecting children from the real world. But I do think that there are things appropriate for every age, and that children should be exposed to them accordingly.
I believe that instead of protecting your children from the truth, better way of raising them would be explaining it to them in a educative way, so that they can learn a life lesson from it.
Because in my opinion, that is the only way we can make this world a better place - by making strong, independent individuals, with capacity of critical thinking on one hand, and with firm moral standards on the other.
