It's been a while since I made one of these posts. Honestly, they seem to just kind of get lost like a fart in a whirlwind or whatever, and that makes sense. Who really cares what song I wake up with in my head on any day? My original idea for making this list was just kind of my own use.
It started two accounts ago. I used the account for a while until I wanted to just sort of get away from using my name, though I'm not exactly hiding it or anything. I switched to
, which was a play on words from the movie The Room with a famous scene in which the lead actor says somewhat randomly "oh, hi Mark!" I've got friends who like to say that to me the same way.
I wanted to abandon that one because of some personal changes I've been going through, including working on being totally sober. I've been successful in that, but I'll pretty much always consider it to be something I'm working on. Temptation will always be there. Especially since I don't know any other sober people in real life except for maybe my parents. So, I abandoned the account and started this new one. I've made a lot of changes in my life in the past 6 months or so and it felt like a new start was appropriate.
The downside is that it always looks like I'm new to Steem, but I'm not. My original account was started in November of 2017, or 28 moons ago according to Steemd.
Get to the fucking point, Shark.
You're right, sorry... that was a lot of rambling that no one is really going to read, but this is my blog and I'll ramble if I want to.
So, I woke up with this Mac Miller song in my head this morning. Truth be told, I have not historically been a fan of his. It's not that I haven't been a fan, I just wasn't really aware of him. For some reason, the news of his posthumous album Circles caught my attention and I really liked the first single "Good News." I added it to my library on Apple Music and ended up listening to when it was released and liked it quite a bit. Originally, I was like "man, this dude mumbles a lot" and I wasn't sure how I felt about it, but I got over it. I like the production on this album and the subject matter, while dark, is very good. I'm in a good place right now, but darkness and addiction is something I know very well.
This isn't the best song on the album, but it's a great opening track, and either way... this is all about which songs I wake up with in my head, not which songs are my favorite.
This post is part of an ongoing series in which I document the songs which are in my head immediately upon waking.
I don't know if this is something that is common with everyone or not, but I seemingly wake up with a song already in my head every single morning.
There is often no reason why it should be there. I hadn't heard it in the previous day, hadn't discussed it, nothing.
Do you wake up with songs in your head on a regular basis? What song was in your head this morning? Comment below, I'd love to hear from you!
