What song was it today?
This is another case of a song getting in my head because I'd listened to it recently. Sometimes, it comes out of nowhere, but sometimes it makes more sense. A friend of mine asked me a little while ago what I thought the most popular album in the UK in the 1990s was and I was somewhat surprised to find out it was (What's the Story) Morning Glory by the band Oasis.
After that, I gave it a listen, and discovered that I did like it quite a bit. When it was new, I was really more into things like indie rock and emo and didn't pay much attention to what was popular in the mainstream. That said, I did obviously have some familiarity with the singles from this album. They were everywhere, and I did watch things like MTV from time to time back then.
Even back then, I do remember this song and thinking that Noel Gallagher had a pretty good singing voice and that if he and his brother really couldn't get along that having Liam in the band wasn't entirely necessary. In hindsight, I think the tension between the two of them was partially responsible for the popularity of the band, though. People certainly love them some drama!
