Well I have learned a lot about renovations over the past few months and one thing I have learned is that they can easily balloon into a much bigger project. This happens as it becomes easy to add more improvements to the renovation as you come across them. Also when you uncover parts of your house you are bound to find things that need to be fixed that you were unaware of. In the case of the renovation of my rental suite when we looked behind the drywall in the bathroom we discovered black mold so we had to replace a large portion of the drywall in the bathroom and we then decided to update the bathroom at the same time.
The renovation of my rental suite has been going on for now three to four months and though much progress has been made I still feel there is so much work left to do. Here are some pictures of the renovation, as you can see the walls have yet to be painted though I have been told they are ready for primer and then paint.
One of the best improvements have been the addition of pot lights in the living room, kitchen, and laundry room.
We also installed new doors throughout my house and the rental suite got a new front door that matches the back door to the upstairs part of the house. I really like the black hardware we chose for these doors which were made by Wiser.
There are numerous work tables in the rental suite as there remains a lot of construction left to do. I am hoping we can have it done in two weeks but this might be ambitious considering where we are in the renovation.
