Genderless clothing now? Really? Was this truly a necessary step? Was there ever any time in human history when the distinction between boys and girls limited a purchase option?
Anyone?
The answer is NO.
The last time we checked, being a male we didn't notice any spontaneous combustion issues when we dallied in the girls section of a clothing. Nor did we experience any issues with Mall Cops flying down from the rafters in S.W.A.T. gear to take us down in a quick and satisfying manner for having a penis and shopping in the girls section of the store.
So what the actual fuck??
WHY is this even a thing?
Since there was never anything stopping people from buying ANYTHING from ANY division of the store...we have to wonder why they are taking this step to break down barriers that were never there.
Realistically the ONLY thing that prevented a man from shopping in and buying from a girls section was themselves and their ingrained beliefs. That was it. Same rules would apply to women in the men's section. Only their personal beliefs and biases would prevent them from even stepping foot in the section that wasn't "theirs".
Joe wants to buy that really nifty blouse or pullover? Fill your boots, Joe!
Jane wants to buy that snazzy set of slacks from the boys section? Have at 'er, Jane!
Nothing was stopping you before. Except yourself and your innate fear of being judged or looked at in a weird way.
So what??
So now because you were afraid to buy your little tyke something "feminine", or your little Princess something "manly", you really believe that these places that break down the barriers that never existed will remove that fear and judgement?
WRONG.
So fucking wrong.
You REALLY believe that any stigma that would've accompanied a purchase prior to this will be non-existent after-the-fact?
WRONG.
The ONLY thing that changes is now there's no longer any invisible barriers or distinctions. That's it. Now you don't need a separate section to peruse...you simply walk to the clothing section and spend even more time because now you have to wade through ALL those items looking for the ONE fucking thing you may have been after in the first place.
So yeah, if anything, you just made your shopping experience that much more tedious and cumbersome, you fucking slapnut.
GAH!
The worst part is, you goddamn snowflakes actually believe that you have accomplished something and achieved some type of victory with this development.
SPOILER ALERT: You haven't.
We can now say "back in the day", when you used to have separate sections, each divided into their own sub-sections, your shopping experience was easier as you knew that if you wanted to shop for a feminine shirt you would hit that section of the store. And ONLY that section. That was the whole reason you were there. If you didn't find what you were after, you went elsewhere. It was that simple. You could easily be in and out in a matter of minutes if they didn't have the item. A few minutes spent if they did, because now you simply need to determine what size you are after.
Now?
Well now you get to walk in and have to wade through nondescript sections hoping to find the "right" section that will have the shirts you were after. We refer to that as wasted motion. That's a real thing. Look it up. But wait - it gets better!
Now not only do you have to plod through a ginormous one-gender-to-rule-them-all section til you finally find one close enough to what you were looking for...now they are all equally nondescript because they are now neither masculine nor feminine. That new shirt you were after? Now it doesn't come off masculine OR feminine. It's generic.
THAT is an accomplishment?
THAT is a victory?
Generic clothing? ARE YOU FUCKING AMISH?! (no offence to my Amish folk, but admit it - you guys are living examples of one-look-to-rule-them-all...for real)
There's nothing wrong with boys wanting to look masculine and girls wanting to look feminine. Just like the reverse is true. We're pretty open-minded that way. If your son wants to wear frills and bows and your girl wants to look like a fucking lumberjack...go nuts. Fill your boots. Fuck the haters.
If that's what they wanna wear, and they are prepared for the looks, stares, and potential ridicule...go hard! Fuck the haters.
However, that won't happen after an excursion to this outlet and any others that follow suit, because now they'll all look as generic and bland as possible. They will be "basic". Neither your son nor your daughter will be able to possess an identity of their own. They'll look the same as everyone else around them. Don't laugh...anyone reading this knows we're right...if the day comes that shit like this gets a deeper foothold and MORE outlets line up to follow suit, it won't be long before we all look pretty much the same as the person standing next to us and the only thing separating us is our name.
We won't possess a "brand" of our own. And think of the fashion industry. HOLY SHIT.
Imagine how crippling it will be to no longer see any "fashion" or "style" because gee, there are no longer distinctions between sexes.
ERMAHGERD!
But that's a rant for another time. The bottom line is, this is the most preposterous endeavor and we as a society need to do whatever we can to prevent it from spreading. Boys will be boys. Girls will be girls. Boys will be girls. Girls will be boys. There was never ANY need to have a genderless anything in the clothing industry. All you needed to do was walk your ass over to the other section and continue shopping for whatever Joe or Jane Tyke wanted. Or what you wanted. We're not judging. There's no need nor call for genderless anything. Not in an enlightened society.
Some of us still prefer to have a distinction. It makes shopping that much easier when we know where to look. And dollars to donuts there are more of US who like the distinction than there are of YOU who prefer a world of generic mish-mash and entirely imagined "oppression" of today's youth.
You want genderless clothing? Go out and make your own and open a store to sell it. Keep your snowflake bullshittery to yourselves. Leave the rest of us out of your delusions.
