So I am a left handed person.
My orientation is left, I use my left hand for all those tasks which are done with right hand by right-handed population. The world is made according to comfort of a right-handed person and a left-handed goes through various kinds of struggles in daily life.
From the elbow wars at lunch & dinner tables to having difficulty in writing while sitting on Exam-desks. I still remember, in every exam I would get up before the exam starts and would ask the teacher to change my seating to my comfort. Most of the teachers would think I am saying it as trickery to cheat in exam, so before they could say anything, I would add on 'I can sit on the front desk (which used to be a table chair for the teacher) but please change my seating, I am a lefty and this seating impacts my writing speed'. Every teacher bought my front desk offer and it helped me in the exams at least.
But what about day-to-day life?
Writing in a spiral notebook.
Using scissors.
Using can openers.
The number pad on keyboard.
& so on.............
The list is long, but the reality is either we get used to everything just the way they are or we make some amendments. But there is one point in the list which I dislike the most.
Lets take the example through a bar.
In a bar, I would keep my drink on my left side and the person sitting to my left would also keep their drink on their right side which end up being the same side. To resolve this situation I always intentionally create some distance to whoever is sitting on my left. Be it the lunch table in office, the dinner table at home, the Drink counter with friends.
So, the other day I got into a little feud with one of my colleague who would intentionally sit on my left every day to tease me and I got irritated at the moment of time. Later on, I hit internet that day just to read on anything about the left-handed people that could make me feel good for that day at least.
Here is what I read and understood :
Our brains are directly connected to our hands.
Usage of left hand creates simulation in right brain and vice-versa.
On average, 90% population of the world is right handed and their left lobe of the brain is more active since right hand usage creates simulations in left portion of brain.
The other 10% percent which are the left handed think more through the right lobe of the brain. A left handed person creates more simulation in the right portion of brain because of the high usage of left hand. The right lobe of the brain is supposed to be supporting more creative and out-of-box thinking which explains why I am weirdly different( just kidding or maybe not :p).
I felt good after reading it that particular day and I went onto a new journey of reading about brain simulations which I am still continuing.
Thank you for reading :)
