So before I get to posting my next blog entry about camping and hiking I had to vent and ask this question:
What is with all the stupid crap posts and comments on here?
Now I'm not claiming to be some great writer or photographer but when it comes to posting on here I try. This is, by design, a blogging site. It is not setup to function the same as a social network. You judge, and are entertained by what other people post and they do the same for you.
Let me describe a few things I've seen in here that make me scratch my head in confusion.
*1. Terrible photos.
Like I said I'm not a photographer. I'm probably even going to use a couple sub par pictures in my next blog post because they are the only ones I have, but I'm also not going to submit them to a contest either.
The other day I seriously saw a flower photo, taken with a background of concrete and I think maybe someone's foot, where the foot was in better focus than the flower, submitted to a photo contest.
Just... why? You don't have to be an artist to understand that's a bad photo.
The great thing about this site is that you can post whatever you want. This person lives in a different country than me. It would probably be far more interesting to me to just hear about their day and where they live. If it isn't interesting then at least they tried. At least they put some effort into this platform.
*2. Stupid comments to my posts.
My favorite is the variation of "it's nice post 👍"
What made me write this whole rant was seeing this as a response to a post where the person specifically asked a question and was expecting answers in the comments. Clearly this poster did not actually read the post.
What are they going to get out of their stupid comment? I don't get it. Do they think that this will get them followers? They can't be that stupid, can they?
*3. Copy paste posts.
Obviously the first problem is plagiarism but beyond that I've actually seen boring plagiarized posts. Without elaborating, attempting to spur a discussion or inserting your own opinion, what is the point?
If I wanted to read readily available news then I go to a news site. I don't need it here.
I seriously read a conversation on the discord channel where a guy was arguing with over the fact that he was blacklisted.
Dude was blacklisted because he upvoted a 2 sentence post reporting that a guy was shot somewhere near the Pakistan border. No other info, no insight, no elaborating, yet he seriously argued that he was doing a service by keeping it short and to the point. The logic, or lack there of, is mind boggling.
I don't really have a point to my rant so I'll end it for now. Keep an eye on the comments below, let's see what happens. No to just pick a terrible picture to go along with it. Hey, the internet loves cats!
