Oh hi,
It’s taken a while for me to realize that Steem is part of my side hustle that earns me money. Because I never really cashed out, I never saw this as something to make money off but rather a platform to grow my creative endeavours. A chat with a friend recently revealed that I should be earning Steem everyday. And there are so many ways to do it!
1. Uploading DTube Videos Everyday (I’ve Stopped Doing This Daily).
Ever since I moved back home, the commuting time is 1 hour into work and 1 hour back. Even though I sometimes get a seat, it’s physically and mentally draining. Uploading videos daily with such a limited time is daunting. I tried so many times this year but eventually accepted that the quality of my videos just doesn’t cut it for me when I do daily.
What’s my solution?
I film when I’m inspired. When I’m not tired. And when I have something new to bring to the table. I vlog a lot about myself but my number one priority is always giving information back to those on DTube. I feel that’s one of the reasons that always separated me from other DTubers was I knew my audience and I didn’t just make a generic video about something or myself, I always made sure that information could be applied to anyone watching.
I feel very blessed to have survived so much of the @dtube drama where a lot have fallen victim and left the platform completely. I go under the mantra of “just keep creating” and it’s done well for me so far. I do wish they’d update the site, it's been a while haha.
TIP: The big trait you can have on DTube is “self awareness.” Understanding what videos will work well on DTube and what won’t is actually super important for longevity as a vlogger.
2. Engagement And The Curious Case Of Steem Basic Income
A new concept first introduced to me by @jongolson who also happens to one of the hardest working Steemians I know. He’s the founder of @steemsavvy a free online course that helps new Steemians get on-boarding and familiar with all that is Steem. His concept is similar to mine (although there are days I enjoy not being on Steemit) SHOW UP EVERYDAY. Engagement is king and not that generic “i like this post”, but REAL ENGAGEMENT. In comes one of the greatest rewards 2019 has seen on Steemit. STEEM BASIC INCOME!
So what’s Steem Basic Income?
It’s an experimental project that Steemians send 1 steem to @steembasicincome and they nominate another Steemian in the memo. Not only does the person nominated get 1 Steem Basic Income (SBI form now on) but the donater gets 1 SBI as well. WIN WIN. The more SBI you get, the higher the upvote you get from the multiple SBI accounts. And the more Steem that is invested to the account, the higher the steempower gets for SBI.
As always, be careful of new projects that you have to use Steem to be part of coughs hysterically at Drugwars and only donate what you’re happy to be without. Oh, it’s also upvotes for life from the SBI accounts! Pretty cool. You can also delegate if you don’t want to invest some Steem.
TIP: Follow @contestkings as they throw up a free article everyday outlining ways you can earn free SBI (and other rewards).
3. Everyone’s Favourite dApp - DRUG WARS
#Trollolol - Look, I invested quite a bit into @drugwars. It looked to have great potential (and still does) but I invested too much as it would seem. The downward spiral of Steem earned from the game is very concerning. They did release a new post stating they are now switching from Steem rewards, to a Steem Engine Token called “FUTURE” after their company name Futureshock. I don’t mind this, it’s a nice step in the right direction and who know how much these tokens will be worth in the future.
The gameplay is sort of bland compared to a Steemmonsters. The problem I face is attacking people just takes so damn long. Having to wait 20 minutes is a drainer especially when you’re sending out your entire army. I’ve seen my daily Steem rewards go from 12 Steem a day to now 0.6 Steem a day. Normally I’d freak out but I look at it as a life lesson. Plus if you share a Drug Wars battle on your Steemit feed, you’ll get upvoted by their Fundition account. I’ve even started microblogging on those memos in the battles to make my posts a bit more engaging (feel free to do the same).
If you haven’t started on Drug Wars yet, I’d be careful on how much you spend. It’s in the very early stages and I feel instead of consulting the community about what changes Drug Wars need to make, they just spring it up on us. Which surely pissed off a lot of people. It’s decentralisation, Steemians. Own your own mistakes, don’t blame others.
TIP: As it stands. Don’t spend Steem on this. You’re better off with SBI or @steemmonsters
So there you have it, here are 3 ways I’m hustling everyday on Steemit (there’s a few more) but I’d say these are the top 3 for me.
What are yours?
Oh bye,
Kevin
