Author: Husaini M Hasan
Publisher: Batavia Publishing, Jakarta
Thickness: xiv + 509 pages
FOR supports the struggle of Aceh Merdeka, Dr Husaini M Hasan Sp OG sacrificed his family and profession as an obstetrician in Medan, North Sumatra. He left the established life and chose to rekindle the spirit of rebellion against the Indonesian government in the wilds of Aceh. For three years (1977 - 1980) he lived in the middle of the wilderness of Aceh before fleeing to Sweden.
Husaini M Hasan is one of the key figures in the Free Aceh Movement (GAM). Teungku Dr Hasan Tiro, a GAM declarator at the top of Mount Halimun, Aceh hinterland in 1974. Was once the first person to be considered before Hasan Tiro made an important decision.
He also had the confidence to seek international assistance for the struggle of GAM and served as Secretary of State and Minister of Education in the Aceh Sumatra State Cabinet I, in 1977.
Different views made Husaini change from influential people in the body of GAM to being removed, even labeled a traitorous kosher blood. The predicate was embedded on charges of forming the GAM Assembly (MP). Husaini denied the allegations, but admitted to setting up GAM (GAM) Headquarters in Europe with a number of other GAM figures.
This explanation becomes one of the five reasons the book Dari Rimba Aceh ke Stockholm was written, making it difficult to refute this note is a white book about Dr. Husaini's journey with GAM.
The story of Dr Husaini's involvement in the Indonesian government's resistance is not much different from other GAM leaders. Dr Husaini's parents were the victims of Mobrig (now Brimob or combat armed police units) mob shootings in 1953 for involvement in Darul Islam / Indonesian Islamic Army or DI / TII.
This is not unlike the contemporary armed conflicts (1998 and above) involving many GAM members and sympathizers from the victims of the Red Net Operations held by the military in Aceh in the period 1989 - 1998.
The history has proved that martial law is not the answer to the turbulence that occurred in Aceh because it will give rise to prolonged armed conflict which claimed many victims, both from GAM, TNI / Polri, especially civil society. Social life, economy, education, culture, all disturbed.
The contents of this book recall why Aceh is turbulent and why it can not be solved by gun violence. Armed civilian groups that had already broken twice (p.329 and p.355), gained the sympathy of the Acehnese people for the repressive behavior of the state apparatus in the past. By changing the point of view, this book becomes a map for Jakarta how it should handle Aceh.[]
