Hello everyone!
As I mentioned in my previous post, in 2019. I've only read 7 books, which is something I'm not proud of and I was even thinking not to share this information because I felt kind of embarrassed. I love to read and for some reason, I didn't even realize I wasn't reading as much as I wanted to last year, until I went to my Goodreads profile to set a reading challenge for 2020. Then it hit me, only 7 books in a year. But it is what it is...
Few days after the New Year's Eve, I went to my local library to stock up on some books because I knew the library won't work for two weeks or so. I got 5 books plus one I took in December that I was reading at that moment. So far I've finished two books which is a pretty good start. My reading goal for 2020. is 20 books (repeating numbers lol). I know that some months I will read more, like now in January and probably throughout the entire winter, maybe I'll even get trough half of the set number during this time.
Library Book Haul
Here are two books I've finished - "The Schopenhauer Cure" by Irvin D. Yalom and "Boy A" by Jonathan Trigell. Both of them were quite different from other books I've read and I was really interested in the topic of both books. The way that "Boy A" ended was not my favorite but that's fine. I am also planning to watch a movie based on the book and I hope it won't disappoint.
Next we have Paulo Coelho. I've read a lot of his books in the past years. I know there's many people who don't like him and his style of writing but I've enjoyed most of his books. So when I saw these two on the library shelves, I decided to pick them up. I started "Hippie" yesterday, I'm only 50 pages in and I like it so far. The other one is called "The Spy". I saw mixed reviews about it on Goodreads but since I already picked it up, I'm going to give it a chance.
Finally, we have "The Diary of a Young Girl" by Anne Frank. This one I've read many years ago and I don't even know how or why this book came to my mind, but I asked for it at the library. Sometimes I like to re-read certain books or re-watch some movies after a while because I think that we understand and look at them from a different point of view or with a different mindset and we grow and time passes. We notice things we haven't noticed before, maybe we get a different message from it or we just understand it differently. The last book from this library haul is "Perfume: The Story of a Murderer" by Patrick Süskind. This one I saw randomly before our guitar class (classes are at the library) and I immediately picked it up. I saw this movie looong time ago and I am going to watch it again after I read the book. I love this type of books/movies/TV shows - crime, mystery, drama... Not horror though, that is one genre that I cannot stand. :)
If you would like to share the number of books you've read in 2019. or your reading goal for this year, feel free to leave a comment below. Also let me know if you've read any of the books mentioned in this post. I wish you all a great day! :)
