A new batch of books, the thrill of sorting through them is upon me again. Here are five which I have chosen at random out of a batch of about forty. I am going to have to make space on my shelves to accommodate these, hopefully a few sales this week will make place for them.
So Rough a Wind – The Kenya Memoirs of Sir Michael Blundell.
Michael Blundell (1907-1993) the grand old man of Africa, was respected by black and white Kenyans alike. A nice bit of Africana.
Winston S. Churchill by Martin Gilbert Vol. 1V (1917-1922) I now have volumes 1, 2 and 4 on my shelves, who knows maybe one days I’ll get an 8 volume set.
At this time it is beyond my price range. I have seen them go for around $400-$700
The Ultimate Weaponry by Paddy Griffith
Published September 1st 1991 by St. Martin's Press
A good book for the military enthusiast, looking at weapon systems today, one wonders what a full scale war would look like in the future. There have been wars going on since the end of World War 2, will we one day face a WW 3?
The Looting Machine : Warlords, tycoons, smugglers, and the systematic theft of Africa’s wealth by Tom Burgis. Being South African this book has special significance to me.
The History of the Middle East Wars by J.N. Westwood. Another book for the military enthusiast, will these conflicts ever be settled?
I hope you find this blog interesting, books are close to my heart and if I can encourage others to tear themselves away from the TV set and relax with a good book I feel I have done my bit.
