Hello, pandas! How are you handling these winter cold? or well, in other places, how do you handle these infernal heats? LOL. Today I come to bring you a little review about a book that I literally devoured. Believe it or not, I finished it in a day! So it's worth having a review here on our blog.
Synopsis:
Rachel always takes the train at 8.04 h. Every morning the same: the same landscape, the same houses ... and the same stop at the red signal. They are only a few seconds, but allow you to observe a couple having a leisurely breakfast on their terrace. She feels that she knows them and invents names for them: Jess and Jason. His life is perfect, not like his. But one day he sees something. It happens very fast, but it's enough. What if Jess and Jason are not as happy as she thinks? And if nothing is what it seems?
You do not know her She to you, yes.
Personal opinion
It has fascinated me! Tension and mystery is created from the first page. It is so much that I even read advanced chapters because I could not stand the intrigue of knowing what had happened Megan (Jess)? Why could not Rachel remember anything? What had happened that night when Mengan (Jess) disappeared? Scott (Jason) was to blame for that?
I love how the plot is happening alone, that is, it is not a forced story or with jumps in time, but it is happening in consequence. I loved the descriptions of the landscapes, I almost felt that I was next to Rachel on the train while listening to the rattle of the rails next to the wheels of the train, listening to people talking on the phone, etc. In addition Paula Hawkins knows how to create a deceptive narrator, because it is not until the end that:
1.-The first two pages of the book match.
2.-Everything clicks on your head.
3.-You realize that nothing was what it appeared to be.
I recommend this book for a nice afternoon of rain or if you are going for a walk to a rural place, because you feel you are in the story with Rachel trying to reveal the secret of the death of Megan (Jess). And I do not lie when I say that they can devour it, because it is a book that can be read alone without any heaviness.
Rating: 10/10, it was perfect for me
Some quotes of the book so that they fall in love and go running to read it:
-“The holes in your life are permanent. You have to grow around them, like tree roots around concrete; you mould yourself through the gaps.”
-“I have lost control over everything, even the places in my head.”
-“I don’t believe in soul mates, but there’s an understanding between us that I just haven’t felt before, or at least, not for a long time. It comes from shared experience, from knowing how it feels to be broken. ”
-"The memory doesn't fit with the reality, because I don't remember anger, raging fury. I remember fear."
-"One for sorrow
Two for joy
Three for a girl
Four for a boy
Five for silver
Six for gold
Seven for a secret never to be told."
-“I have to find a way of making myself happy, I have to stop looking for happiness elsewhere. It’s true,”
