Yes, those are paintings! The Strahov Library is one of the most beautiful libraries in the world! I was really disappointed that they don't let visitors enter unless you are doing research and need a book from the library, so I had to be content with taking photos from the doorway. It's still worth visiting though--they have a lot of cabinets of curiosities with so many interesting things in them, like those book boxes in the picture above!
