One of my favorite books has got to be the 7 Habits of Highly Efficient people written by Stephen R. Covey. It is just a masterpiece when it comes to living an efficient and productive life, and there is so much wisdom in it, that you can read it over and over again.
But, what can you read for your kids if you want to give them some good and useful lessons about life, but also make it entertaining and interesting to them? I bought the book "7 Habits of Happy Kids" a while ago, and I am really happy about it!
7 Habits of Happy Kids
The book is dealing with exactly the same topics as the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, but it is sharing them through children's tales and taking us to a village in which we meet different animals with all sorts of trouble.
I have read it to several kids, and I can easily tell that it is suitable for children between 4-10 years.
Not only are the stories good, but it is beautifully illustrated, and each chapter also has a page with topics that you can discuss with your kids if you want to make the topics go even deeper.
I often refer to the book when by kids are bored...
The first chapter in the book is called: "I am bored. I am bored. I am bored." Have you read the adult version of the book? The first chapter is about being proactive. What is it all about? It is your responsibility to lead your life in the direction in which you want to go. Don't wait for problems to come, but act actively today in order for life to become what you want it to become.
What happens in the children's version of the book? One of the characters is incredibly bored and expects everyone to find a solution to the boredom (don't we all recognize the situation?!). But, in the end, the character has to understand that he is responsible for his own life and solving the problem on his own.
So, when one of my kids comes and tell me that they are bored, then I often just ask them: "And who is responsible in such situations to find a solution?" They immediately know that they are!
A great book for kids!
I don't normally write about books for kids, but today I wanted to do an exception. This is a fantastic book that also has been translated to different languages, so you better look for it in your local language (since kids often don't understand English, unless they are native English speakers).
Do you have any favorite books that you love to read for your kids? I would love to hear some of your recommendations!
