BoulderSunday by is the green light for me to ruminate over photos and memories of the times I was in and amongst ancient rocks and boulders in Assisi, Italy. Photos are so magical! I am transported back today to this happy explore at Fra Rufino. I am still there with my good pilgrim friends.
We were driven to this lovely monastery that is no longer lived in my the monks. After walking 200 kms how could we sit, eat and drink coffee and wine. We had to see and emerge ourselves in all that Assisi offered.
This is what we saw as we arrived at the monastery.
The earthy atmosphere emanated from the trees, rocks and boulders as soon as we walked up the drive-way. I always imagine the many thousands of feet that have walked on the stones into the monastery from the past and the present. They will still be doing this int the future, all coming to admire, pray and take photos of this magnificent building feat with nature from an age gone by.
There was so much to admire, nature and humans working and living together in the most simple way.
There were the tiniest doorways to go through into the chapel but of course there is one in every crowd who does not read signs. I love the reflections in both photos.

It was hard not to visualise the monks going about their prayers and daily jobs as we walked through the monastery. Here is the kitchen and dining room where they ate their meals. I wonder if they had vases of flowers on the tables in those days?
Always a good time to have a selfie to mark our day. There was a lot to celebrate after walking up and down mountains in the Umbria Country for a couple of weeks.
And to get a first hand experience of what the monks saw in the sky at night we did what any other fun tourist would do - lay down beside the monk statue to look at the sky wishing it was night to see the stars. We all had a go and all had a pic taken as only tourist do to savour the moment for years to come.

So ends my flash back to the memorable touristy day at Fra Rufino. I am still smiling and will for the rest of the day. Writing a post for #BoulderSunday has done this for me. Thank you .
Stay safe, well, happy and positive everyone
Cheers and Blessings
