A New tag this week that fits in so nicely with my love of rocks! #bouldersunday created by

My Boulder photos are in the Petroglyph National Monument near Albuquerque, New Mexico. This is one the largest petroglyphs sites in North America. Approximately 15,000 petroglyphs or prehistoric rock art images have been found on the escarpment which is approximately 17 miles long.
A word of warning to all,
Lava is very hot liquid rock that comes out of a volcano. It was interesting to me that the way the molten lava flowed was clearly visible.
The petroglyphs are from 300 to 2500 years old.
There are 5 volcanic cinder cones within the protected area of the National Monument. The volcanic cinder cones and lava flows formed 150,000 years ago as liquid lava flowed from fissures in the Earth.
