The news came out of nowhere as Rizin held a press conference to announce that Floyd Mayweather with fight Tenshin Nasukawa on New Year’s Eve. No rule set or wieght class have been determined.
Rizin chairman Nobuyuki Sakakibara said "First we had to convince Mr. Mayweather to come to the ring on the Rizin ring on Dec. 31. As you know Mr. Mayweather is undefeated. But all his fights have been in the U.S. He has had a wish to fight outside the U.S.. We're happy we've convinced him to come to Japan for this history making event. In the second phase once we knew Mr. Mayweather would be in the Rizin ring on New Year’s Eve, we thought of the appropriate opponent and there was only one: Tenshin [Nasukawa]. Regarding rules and weight we have more work cut out for us, but we feel this will be a great fight so many people will be excited to see. We’re so happy Mr. Nasukawa accepted in a flash."
Who the heck is Tenshin Nasukawa? Tenshin is a 20 year old 5' 4" 125 pounder who is 4-0 in MMA and 27-0 (21 by KO) in kickboxing. Floyd is 5'8" and 154 pounds. What are these guys thinking? If the rule set is boxing then Tenshin doesn't stand a chance of getting close to Floyd. He is too small. If the the rule set allows kicks they Floyd is going to take more damage than he ever has in boxing.
This has to be the stupidest fight ever. Floyd can make hundreds of millions fighting Manny or Conor. Why is he fighting someone that most of the world has no idea who he is? It has to be money or desperation, or both.
