The fastest reaction time ever measured in a human brain is 101 milliseconds - a limit to our body that you might think is generally applied to people. Problem: Some people are not willing to accept this limit. Speed racing drivers, for example, take turns at 150 km per hour and should be able to react twice as fast as the "normal" to run on the runway.
Since the brain can not withstand such high speeds, pilots have a stunt: In hundreds of hours of training they repeat any possible maneuver on the wheel - until it becomes part of their unconscious functioning. The result: During a race, the brain sends signals in the hands of the driver, before the brain has time to record the turn.
Is Improvement Possible?
Despite these stunts, actually the speed of reaction can be improved - through the use of video games. A study has shown that professional players are able to react to a stimulus at just 209.4 milliseconds. For comparison: those who have never played video games need a four times larger time.
