Thundery Showery NYC Day Today 80's Arrive This Week
Good late morning everyone. Our cut-off low is finally on the move (albeit very slowly), and we will slowly start crawling out of this maritime flow over the course of the next few days. In its place, warm air will begin to make its way in as promised, but it took some time to get here due to Arthur and the unforeseen mechanics it brought with it.

Memorial Day on Monday is looking very seasonal, but it remains a non-beach day in terms of swimming. Rip tides may persist with that prolonged easterly fetch, and highs along the immediate shore will be in the mid to upper 60's. Away from the coast, most will enjoy low to mid 70's with clouds and sun.
Things really begin to turnaround on Tuesday as warm air begins to push in. Again, it'll be cooler at the coast, but most spots away from the immediate shore will see upper 70's to low 80's.
Wednesday has the potential to be warmer if we get more sunshine, and humidity will be on the increase as well. We'll call for 80+, and we may see some mid 80 hits, especially interior Queens and downtown Brooklyn.
We'll keep the near 80 to possibly mid 80's rocking all the way to next Saturday, then a brief cool down is expected for a few days. Even so, low to mid 70's replace the 60's we've been having when things cool down.
In the long range, we could get very warm to possibly even relatively hot towards the end of the first week of June. We won't call it yet, but there is a chance for mid to upper 80's during that period. We'll break it all down next week, and see how long the cool down lasts after our first extended bout of 80 degree weather.
Please note that with regards to any tropical storms or hurricanes, should a storm be threatening, please consult your local National Weather Service office or your local government officials about what action you should be taking to protect life and property.
