Trifles light as air are to the jealous confirmations strong as proofs of holy writ.
― William Shakespeare, Othello
There was a time in her youthful innocence when things happened by chance, or as some say by coincidence. The moment she met some stranger in a club or bar and their eyes met, it was kismet or a chance meeting with someone she may or may not share a drink, kiss our touch.
One of these such moments was when she took a chance and met a man online, the typical way to find companionship these days.
They decided to meet on the beach, a warm spring day. As he approached her she could not believe the Light shining behind him, was he an angel? No. Of course he wasn't an angel. She didn't believe in that crap anyway.
When she was finally brave enough to look up and her eyes first met his it was "love at first sight."
Was that simply one of those soul meetings people talk about? The one where agreements were made before a soul encounter on this horrid earthly plane ... no, she didn't believe in that either.
Their hands touched for a brief instant but he reached out to hug her and the smell of him was Divine.
"I told you I was going to hug you," he said and I always keep my word.
" I know." She blushed with pure pleasure of this god before her.
"You are more beautiful in person, are you hungry?" and not waiting for a response,
"Let's go inside the restaurant." He smiled with a slight grin that turned upward at the left corner of his perfect mouth.
She snuck a quick peak at him ... it took all of her willpower to not just stare at his Light.
What had overcome her? She had never met nor seen anyone like this before, well maybe when she was 18 years old and had no idea about life. This was different ... this made her all gooey inside and she could barely say a word. That definitely was not like her, "get a grip" she kept telling herself.
They were seated at a table and he kept hiding behind his menu, but would look up with that shy schoolboy look. His eyes were the color of a sea green ocean, she could sink into those depths forever.
She smacked her face lightly, what in the hell was wrong with her?
"Are you okay, you look a little red, can I get you some water?"
"I'm fine thank you."
"Would you like me to order?"
She could only nod and was a complete loss of words. Should she go home right now, this was absurd. What person in their right mind could not even talk in front of someone.
He smiled an all knowing smile, almost like a cat that ate the canary. He knew the effect he had on people. She asked for this, so she would go along with it, she was a fighter after all. No one had this kind of control over her. Ever.
"I expected you to have a Latin accent from your photos, but it is very much English."
"Yes, I am from America."
"Would you like to go to a movie?"
"Sure." What else could she say, he was so gorgeous and looking at his mouth, what person would not want to kiss those lips? Not for nothing, she was not a fool.
As they walked out of the restaurant, he softly touched her hand and pulled her to him. As he placed his lips over hers it was a moment that stopped time. If time travel existed, she went to another realm and came back a different person.
Questions flooded her mind, but she could not even remember how she was ... when she "came to" he was grinning down at her from his 6'4" frame and held her so she would not fall over. So, this was what one of those movie kisses felt like.
This was not coincidence ... it was meant to be.
