Tucked far back in a tree-lined hill, in the depths of Minneapolis, lies a modern tree house style home that basks in the glory of its 90's heyday. It's a home that once had Prince show up at one of its many late night after parties. A home that saw Minnesota's first true California slab cement foundation. A place so unique, so strange, that when the opportunity came to purchase it at the bottom of the financial crisis for more then half the price it had previously sold for, we did so without a blink.
It was at this time, in early 2011, that we set out to revitalize our redwood masterpiece, the Cedar Lake Chalet. Wet set out to modernize in a way that balanced contemporary design with hints of traditional comfort.
Over the past 7 years, we've completely renovated the home (without contractors) and documented each and every project to share with the building community.
From finding a hungry nest of 100,000 black ants above our bed...
to building an open staircase from the ground up, with a skill saw and $50 miter box!
To rebuilding a collapsed gazebo...
We cover every aspect of the house, from outside to in, from computer 3D renders to final designs.
So join us, as we dive into the rebuild of the Cedar Lake Chalet. And as my old man would say... let's get back to work.
