I’m going to keep this brief, because while the path to business success isn’t obvious, it is simple.
First, it is worth noting that there actually is a “Body of Knowledge” for business. It isn’t something people should just know without being taught anymore than Chemistry or Math are.
Second, it is teachable, and learn-able.
Third, the core of it is to:
A) Clarify processes for marketing, sales, and upsells;
B) Create a system for moving people from marketing, into sales, into upsells; then
C) Use that system to see clearly what is or isn’t working so that you can do more of what works and less of what doesn’t work.
That’s it.
If you do this, and have a quality service or product you are providing, it is just a matter of time before you will achieve your business goals, because you have the necessary root structures. It’s knowable.
Preliminary Step
Now you want to first make sure that the business you’re in is the business you actually want to be in. It is a stressful situation to wind up financially dependent on a business you hate running, or that you feel is in the way of your doing what you really want to be doing in life.
But once you have an offering you’re happy with, you simply need to build up “the business of business” so that you have the systems and processes you need to make running it from day to day like playing a really engaging (and profitable) game.
