London City Airport
I am writing this post from London city airport. A dinky airport that is close to London’s financial centre. On business , flight delayed but can’t wait to get home. I knew a bit about the history of Dublin City airport because an Irish guy bought it for peanuts and sold it on for crazy money . I was interested to know the in’s and out’s. So I looked it up.
The Sundance Kid
Dermot Desmond purchased The airport for 23.5 million pound from Mowlem in 1995 . Not bad for an airport in the centre of London . The country was in recession and airports were going cheap.He sold it on in 2006 for 750 million pound!!!
Sandy Lane
Dermot currently owns Sandy Lane in Barbados which is one of the worlds exclusive resorts . I had a friend stay there, a very rich friend ( a premiership footballer) . You are talking 10k per person per night. They got room service and it came to over 5k. This is stupid money!! Think of the voting power you would have !😂😂😂😂.Did I mention he also owned Manchester Utd before selling to the Glazier family and he owns Scottish football team Celtic as well. This guy is loaded because what ever he touches turns to gold. Sandy lane has a world class golf club and they often close it so that Dermot can play with the likes of Tiger Woods and Rory McElroy on speed dial. From his shrewd business mind he is one of Ireland’s top ten billionaires. When the Irish football team did not have the resources to pay a world class manager, Dermot put his hand in his pocket and paid their salary. Giovanni Trappitoni was the benefactor.
