For students majoring in education, lecturing as well as having side job teaching in non-formal education institutions such as tutoring, private lessons, and others are quite fun. In addition to applying the knowledge gained, also can earn income.
So did Saiful Ramdan felt that time. In addition, teaching income can not be underestimated. Now he has a business in the field of education and training with two friends, namely LPP Smart Students. Their students are not only from national schools but also from international schools and are scattered in some areas especially in Tangerang and Jakarta. Here are excerpts of his story submitted to Marketeers in order to audition for Marketeers Youth StartUp Icon 2013:
Tell me a bit about the business background you just pioneered and the achievements that you've found so far?
At the beginning of my lecture I saw many students wanting to work, but did not have much free time at that time job vacancy was not enough available. Then many school children who find it difficult to master the lessons in school, so want to follow the guidance of learning (bimbel). But, most constrained by the cost in the guidance is quite expensive. I also like the world of education and have long experience working in tutoring, private, and homeshooling. By establishing this educational endeavor, of course I hope to be useful for all parties.
Since the first opening of the office in July 2012 with my two friends, Mustofa Ismail and Andrie Prasetyo until May 2013 (almost 1 year), Alhamdulillah we have more than 20 staffs, both as tutor teachers, private teachers, and others. Students who join with us not only from national schools but also from international schools spread in some areas especially in Tangerang and Jakarta. Now our turnover is about 15-20an million per month. Our students who just joined UN 2013 also graduated 100%. In fact, the data we get from some of our students from both National and International schools get a very high score, ie with an average value above 9.
What have you done in lifting your local economy?
Some of our contributions include improving the quality of education for elementary, junior and senior high school students by facilitating them to follow the guidance of learning at an affordable cost. Then, provide employment to students and college graduates to be more independent. Then, donate a portion of the business income to the people in need and to other social activities.
What is your motivation for entering this contest, and why do you deserve to be called a young entrepreneurial icon in the startup world of your city?
The motivation to participate in this contest is I want to introduce and develop LPP Smart Students to be more successful than ever. And the reason why it is worth mentioning as a young entrepreneurial icon in the world start up because I have passion in the entrepreneur world. Having a passion, vision and mission is very big that is to help realize intelligent human resources intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually and improve the economy of the surrounding community.
In addition, my business in other fields (food) also began to grow. Not long ago the donut business I developed with the painting creations was chosen as one of the winners of the competition from the National Entrepreneurship Movement 2013 held by the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises.
