As an art student who is entering his final years in the University, i decided to start attending art workshops and stuff to gain more experience in the field of art.
Recently, i attended an art workshop tittled the 'Hard Part Of Art' organised by a prominent bank in my country @GTBank. The most inspiring insight was given by a named Mr. Akin Akinbulumo(also known as Mr. Phisha).
In his speech, he highlighted 10 points that one should follow in order to develop one's art brand. They are as follows:
Make a science of your art.
The business of art is the same as the business of anything.
Great products don't sell themselves.
People would always exchange money for value.
People buy into extensions of themselves and into stories, this is where value lies.
Find your people, understand them and understand their space.
Curate and Engage.
Collaborate to build a business engine around you.
Price your art right.
It takes time and it is hardwork.
This are the points i gained from his speech. I hope it could serve as a point of reference for student artists like me.
As part of the workshop, we were also required create a design on a cloth using spray paints.(picture).
