Life can be hard, but at the same time, it’s also what you make of it. No matter who you are, you’re going to have times when everything just plain sucks and there seems to be no real way out. Rich, poor, healthy, sick… life’s gonna get you and shake you down at some point.
It’s just what life does, and you don’t have any control over it. Now, you can suck it up and keep fighting to reach what your dream is – or you can wallow in self-pity. The latter option is a lot easier, especially if you’ve really been kicked down, but it won’t do you any good in the long run.
What so many of us do when it happens is make excuses. The would have, could haves, should haves. The ifs. The blame game. Sure, you might feel better for shifting the reasons elsewhere, but I want you to realize something.
You’re actually giving away control and accepting defeat. When the going gets tough, that’s when the tough get going. In fact, many of the most successful people today have been repeatedly kicked in the gut by meeting life down a dark alleyway in a bad part of town late at night…
…but you can bet your last dollar that after a short time of feeling shitty about it, they dusted themselves down and got back on the horse. What else could they do? It’s that mindset of approaching failure that really sorts the successes from, well, the failures.
So next time you’re having a pity party because it feels like the odds have been stacked against you, remember that you’ve got control of this, and you can change this. No more excuses – get back on that horse and try again!
