We can approach life with many attitudes.
One is that everything I have is MINE, my time is MINE, my money is MINE, my stuff is MINE and I will spend all just the way I please.
Another approach can be to adopt the attitude that everything you have is a blessing, your time is a gift and the things you have are merely yours to accomplish a better outcome for you, your family and others.
This is the attitude of a Steward.
A steward sees time, energy, talents and money merely as resources that are on loan. These resources then need to be allocated wisely between family, work, service to others and other interests. With this attitude one does not simply squander these resources in selfish pursuits but plans ways that they can be utilized to their fullest.
Owning a business creates but these come at a cost. The steward weighs carefully the cost/benefit ratio to determine how best to run the business interests they have a stewardship over.
Acting as a steward as opposed to merely being motivated by our own self interest can be much more fulfilling. It takes time and effort to cultivate this attitude but well worth the effort.
A steward celebrates not only in their own success but also in the success of others. That is what makes all the difference.
