Saw this Master P video in my TL and it's so powerful. His thoughts on ownership are so important, especially when you consider the source. No Limit Records was one of the first independent rap labels to change 'the game'. The way the game had been played and still is played often involves robbing black rappers of their earnings.
Master P even discusses that while talking Ownership in this clip
He mentions the 'financial advisors' people have, who seem to be blocking their financial success. We all have to be careful about who we take financial advice from, because not all 'advisors' have our best interest in mind. This is a huge issue with in the world of MLM/Network Marketing where people sell misinformation for personal gain. You'll find bad advisers in several areas of the financial world, because they are benefiting some how.
Master P talks about going to Silicon Valley and presenting his idea for a video game to professional athletes. Their financial advisors ruled against it saying that they couldn't 'see it'. That's always an interesting excuse - truth is black people were beat out of supporting one another during slavery. Unfortunately those negative, community defeating habits formed on the plantation have been passed down.
I recently wrote about several of these issues ::
- Ray Lewis: Black People Are Afraid To Discuss Racial Issues
- Dr. Boyce Talks Master P, Floyd Mayweather and Black Wealth Building
There is a mindset and a mentality that black people have to work hard to develop. This kind of thinking was not given to us, and those who had it were lynched. We saw what they did to Black Wall Street, killing over 300 blacks just for being successful. Killing off black leaders who speak out against injustice all helps stoke fears within black people. The fear that they could be NEXT if they don't toe the line. This often is an irrational thought because we see several examples of blacks who do, and still get harmed. That too, causes more fear and paralysis.
In other words, black people are facing a lot, at all times.
Even those who have the mentality of ownership, often will not find 'support for their idea' within their environment. Just as Master P could not get the support of other black Millionaires. Issues like these may take a few more generations to sort out, so long as blacks can overcome the attacks that we should expect by now.
Any black man or woman seeking to accomplish anything in this nation will be challenged along the way. But they must push forward anyway and in spite of those challenges. Their road will be tougher, but what other choice is there? Too many blacks continue to settle for employment, when our eyes need to be on ownership. Nothing will ever change, until we own more than we do now.
However, they know that and so all efforts to gain more footing will be contested.
Now that you know - come to work ready!
