Figure one is known as the founder of Sony company which is a leading electronics company in the World. He was born on January 26, 1921, in the city of Nagoya, from a family of sake makers (Japanese typical beer). The Morita family has been working on brewing sake for nearly 400 years in Tokoname city, near Nagoya. Under the care of his father, Kyuzaemon, Akio is being prepared to be the heir of the family business. As a student, Akio often sits at corporate meetings with his father and he will help the family business even on school holidays.
The Morita family at that time had known Western-style lifestyles, such as cars and electric phonographs. Every time he is released from domestic duties, young Akio becomes engrossed in dismantling the gramophone and rearranging it. From an early age, Akio likes to fiddle with electronic equipment, and mathematics and physics are his favorite subjects during elementary and junior high school days. After graduating from High School, he entered the Department of Physics at Osaka Imperial University.
During that time, Japan was in the midst of the Pacific War. In 1944, Akio, who had been a Navy lieutenant after graduating from university that year, met with Masaru Ibuka in the Navy's Wartime Research Committee.
