It has come to be determined that thousands of years ago hypnotism techniques were practiced in cultures such as: China, India, Greece, Mexico. Some clues suggest that the Egyptian culture wielded a type of hypnosis very similar to the current one, more than 3,000 years ago. All these experiences bordered on a magico-religious practice.
In modern times there are four types of suggestion: the direct, the hypnotic, the indirect and the autosuggestion.
The power of suggestion
Suggestion has a formidable dominion over our actions and our way of distinguishing reality. Hypnotic suggestion has been used especially with therapeutic terminations. Its validity is limited. Because mainly not all human beings are competent enough to be hypnotized.
Direct suggestion comes from those people who manage to convince others, including dangerous ideas.
Indirect suggestion is more complicated and more difficult to discover. It comes from the world of ideas that affects a society. They are promoted by organizations in some cases of religious beliefs and sects that have led people to suicide.
Auto-suggestion, fundamentally involuntary, is more valid in our lives than we would like. Many of our thoughts are a set of beliefs, without much foundation. We perform many tasks because we see that others do it or because of habit, but we do not look for a reason.
That's how we are.
