Morning mist rises over the Isimba Dam on the White Nile, one of the most important hydropower projects located in Uganda.
China International Water & Electric Corporation is the contractor who has been managing the engineering, procurement and construction of the project, which aims to ease the power shortage in the East African country. The project, which is estimated to cost 568 million US dollars, comprises of a concrete gravity dam, a clay-core rock fill dam, a spillway, a powerhouse with four Kaplan turbine generator units and auxiliary power transmission works.
