I'm gonna need you to use your imagination with this post. I know it is a #wednesdaywalk post, but the truth is, I only have one really good picture to share with you from my walk.
This past weekend and I drove down to Toldeo, OH to meet her sister's family for lunch. My niece and I collaborated ahead of time and decided that we should try a place called "Ye Olde Durty Bird" to eat. I promise, there will be a future Tasteem post about the actual restaurant.
As we were sitting in the indoor/outdoor seating area, I noticed a building across the street with a mural on the side of it. I let know I was going to snap a picture of it and left the table.
I thought it looked like a pretty sweet mural. It seemed to be in fairly good condition too, so it was either relatively new or they do a good job of maintaining it.
Here is some info I found on the mural. Apparently, Toledo has quite a number of commissioned murals throughout the city:

After dinner we headed to a local mall and did some shopping for a while. This was on Saturday of the Labor Day holiday weekend and I have to say the mall was packed. I was talking to my wife on the way home and I said "based on what I saw today, you wouldn't think the indoor mall concept was dying like they say it is". She agreed with me.
Because the mall was so packed I didn't get any shots from there. I always try to be pretty careful of getting strangers in my shots. I tried to edit out the couple in the mural shot, but it would have been a a close cut.
Even though this is going to be a short post, the walk was not that short. We left home and 9 am and didn't pull back into our driveway until 7:30. It is a two hour drive from where we live to Toledo, so that means we spent 6.5 hours between the restaurant and walking around the mall.
Just to fill some space, here are some fun facts about Toledo:
Libbey Glass Works used to be located in Toledo giving the community the name "City of Glass"
Toldeo was originally two separate towns called Lawrence and Vistula, it wasn't until it was selected as a termination point for the Erie Canal that the towns merged into Toledo.
It is located in an area known as the Great Black Swamp.
The Toledo War from 1935-36 was an almost bloodless dispute between Michigan and Ohio. Michigan gave up claims to Toledo in return for admittance to the union as the 26th state.
The term "Holy Toledo" actually comes from Toledo, Spain which became a major epicenter of Christian culture around 1085 AD, not Toledo, Ohio.
