With this strategy, the participants of the malecon during these days (between July 20 and 29) will be exchanging recyclable material (paper, cardboard, bottles and plastic bags) for elements related to the Central American Games and educational material; with the purpose of generating awareness about the proper management of solid waste, seeking also to mitigate the environmental impacts generated by the development of the games.
The Environmental Exchange Shop has the support of the environmental authority, Barranquilla Verde, and the associations of waste pickers who are responsible for organizing and collecting the material delivered by the attendees.
Within the strategy of environmental sustainability, other activities are carried out, such as environmental initiatives with a sports focus, where the educational institutions of Barranquilla are expected to collect the largest amount of recycling and the institution with the most material collected will receive incentives in sports equipment, as will has the ECOBOTS, which are machines that motivate the recycling of plastic bottles and in return you receive discount coupons in restaurants, stores and stores.
With these activities, the goal is to collect 100 tons of recyclable material and plant 5,500 trees in the framework of sports jousting.
