Beyond the actual meaning of this word, you should consider it and have it in mind while you're learning or improving a foreign language. Why is this word so important? Because whatever language you're learning one of its main goals is to be able to communicate with others, and as social creatures, we are bound to socialize with others using our newly acquired knowledge.
You must try your best to overcome your shyness, and do it! It is the only way you'll feel comfortable, and it'll be natural for you to use your brand new language.
