We had the blue collar freewrite prompt recently, and I knew what that was, but pink collar is a new one for me.
According to wiki:
A pink-collar worker refers to someone working in the care-oriented career field or in jobs historically considered to be women’s work. This may include jobs in the beauty industry, nursing, teaching, secretarial work, or child care. While these jobs may also be filled by men, they are typically female-dominated and may pay significantly less than white-collar or blue-collar jobs.
Ha! I have had careworker jobs, and yes they do pay less. All of the work I did like that has been in people’s homes and was either paying very low, or trading for room and board. I did not really care if I was helping someone, learning things, and living comfortably. I should be more money oriented, but I am not.
Most of my working life has been in accounting and management. In those jobs I wanted top dollar and normally got it. But then I give my money away, so what does it really mean? The important thing for me was to be paid well to get the respect, not so much about getting the cash.
This is why I am a homeless nomad, I guess.
My jobs in the caregiver field where always very rewarding and memorable. I would do it again anytime. If we cannot help others, why are we here?
My post is for the #freewrite daily challenge by . Freewrite is a great way to post on STEEM when you do not think you have the time, or talent, or anything to say. It’s a great way to start regular posting, and I know you can do this too! Here is Marianne’s freewrite prompt post for today. Give it a try and surprise yourself.
